Simlish Creations is 100% back in action!

Tonight, I used part of my Birthday money and some of my earnings to upgrade my Photobucket account to Pro, considering I ran out of bandwidth again in less than 24 hours. This time I went with a full year renewal because it is much cheaper than monthly payments in the long term (as I did back then) and this way I can forget about this issue until August 2012 :D.

So, yup, this site has all the preview pics back. I will even make a new banner to spice things up a bit. I changed the layout a few weeks ago and completely revamped the tag system (it's now a complete list sorted by categories on the right sidebar), so you can now easily find everything I've ever done.

I am not upgrading my Mediafire account, though. That would be too expensive for me and so far it hasn't been necessary. I just hope Mediafire never decides to add a timer for each download like 4share... that would be annoying and I'd definitely look for a new host then.

I really appreciate all your supportive messages after my last announcement, including your incredibly generous offers to host my pics. Thank you SO much, but don't worry, I'm sure this purchase is more than enough to keep this small site running from now on :).

Just *please* refrain from hotlinking my pictures. Pro account or not that is not nice at all (it is stealing in a way) and it's what forced me to acquire this upgrade. Thanks!

Premade Maxis Characters Part 3

This is the 3rd part of my Sims 1 and 3 characters' project. I was not going to continue with this project for now, but a comment from

selenecorvino inspired me to tackle this again. She linked me to an entry in the Wikia with a link to zip created by someone named Callista that contained cleaned and extracted versions of pretty much every single dead pre-made character from the Base Game. I told her I would try them out and, considering I had a free afternoon today, I did it earlier than expected :D

selenecorvino! This project has become easier than ever thanks to your link. The characters work all right, by the way, because they are cleaned clones. They are safe to use and I tried them out in both Bodyshop and in-game.

So, with these extracted characters as my base, I set to work on the next Sims 1 families from Pleasantview. I think that once I'm done with these I'll move on to Strangetown :D.

Small Announcement Regarding Simlish Creations

Due to financial issues (not too severe, but right now I'm not in the position to splurge on hobbies) I had to cancel both my Mediafire and Photobucket accounts for Simlish Creations. I was able to pay for both of them for almost two years, so I think that was a good run for a small Custom Content site :D

It seems that my Mediafire account was not affected by the downgrade, because most of my individual files are small (less than 5 Mb each) and I currently don't have so many downloads.

However, Photobucket locked my account due to bandwidth issues two days after I began my "cycle". I have no freaking idea why I have drained 10Gb worth of bandwidth in such a short amount of time (I hope no one is hotlinking my pics elsewhere), but this means that there won't be preview pics of most of my stuff until the 24th.

I am trying to upload my new pics on LJ Scrapbook from now on, but I won't go back and change ALL my pics because that would be insane.

I apologize for the inconvenience!

Christmas in July 2011 (Part 2)

These were not made by me, but that doesn't stop me from pimping them on my site <3

I received my Christmas in July present last week. I was so happy, because my Santee, Sarang, made recolors of virtually everything I was hoping to have in my game like:

- Tons of Toddler clothing (PJs and Formal clothing)
- Formal Clothing for Children
- Formal Clothing for teen males and adult males
- Sofa recolors
- Toy recolors from Maxis Meshes
- The cutest set of Rugs ever!
- And even Pre-made Sims portraits.

I was SO spoiled this Summer! :)

Christmas in July 2011 (Hair, Harry Potter Posters and Tank Recolors)

I really love Garden of Shadows, because it constantly motivates people to create innovative stuff, no matter your skills or experience.

Unlike the other big sites, GOS still considers the Sims 2 Community pretty much alive, even two years after the release of the Sims 3. Who needs Maxis/EA when we still get the equivalent of whole EPs/SPs worth of nice quality and amazing stuff each month (with the themes, for example)?

I am so glad with my experience this Summer with the Christmas in July exchange. Both the present I got from Sarang and the opportunity to create for voleste were amazing and very fun. I hope I have the time/opportunity to participate next time :).

So, since Voleste has kindly shared her present at GOS, I'd like to send you guys there too: This is her post at the CiJ thread.

Due to space constraints, I sent her small preview pictures of the things I made, squishing three hairs or fours posters per picture. Below you'll get to see the original pictures, including both the hairs and the full sized posters :)

Screenshot Background Rugs with Pooklet's Actions

Cross-posted from my journal. For some reason I completely forgot to add this to Simlish Creations until now :S

By now you must be aware that my CC preview pictures are the laziest ones you've ever seen, right?

Ever since I downloaded Mixedup's Screenshot Background Rug, I became even lazier, because I no longer had to build a room or wall in front of which I had to place my "models". I now only had to plop my magic rug, place the sim on it and voila! Instant pretty preview!

However, I am now bored of using just white as my default background (because the black background hid my black hair recolors and the other three colors included with the original file were quite ugly), so I decided to recolor the screenshot rug in many bright, happy colors.

So I used Pooklet's actions for that purpose :). And I also included some other colors that I thought were missing, like a darker orange, red and green. This is really a very simple piece of CC, but now that I took some pictures of a sim for pixel_trade, I loved my new colorful screenshots.

Hence I'm sharing my express recolors with you :).

default replacement: pollination tech

Maxis' Pollination Technician Number 7 as Default Pollinator

This was ridiculously easy and quick to make, unlike Multi P.T. Mods
What it says on the tin, this is Nina and Dina Caliente's Grandad as Default P.T.
It has been tested by the three Curious brothers, with correct genetics and family trees.
(And the babies came out so cute and alienish)

Instructions: After you've removed any older P.T. default in your game (including Multi PT Mods!), just stick this tiny file in your Download's folder. Voila! Cute pointy eared aliens in your game (and none of the issues with Multi PT Mods in your Uberhood)

Premade Maxis Characters Part 2

Not really. I just took advantage of my sudden Bodyshop inspiration and completed the Broke family from the Sims 3. After all, my Legacy is based on the Brokes, so it was only fair that I included Skip's side of the family too.

This is likely the last piece of CC I share for a while, if only because I can barely stand my mouse anymore. Even playing the game is annoying because it keeps double clicking and canceling the queued actions. Grrr! And let's not talk about the annoyance that was making the hair recolors for Flo and Flat Broke :P

Just like my previous entries, these sims come with default eyes and skin tones, so their looks will depend on the replacements you have installed (I guess that the more MM they are, the better, specially considering the makeup I used for them). There is a tiny issue with Flo and Flat Broke that will be discussed below and there's a surprise "Sims 1.5" family in this entry too! :)

Finally, here are a couple suggestions if you want to play with these Sims as they were "meant to be" by Maxis:

- Sadly, I am not sure someone has re-created Sunset Valley or Riverview for the Sims 2. I don't blame them, because it seems like an insanely large task O_o .

- However, the Wikia mentions that Riverview *may* be the predecessor of Riverblossom Hills (from Seasons) and that Sunset Valley eventually became Pleasantview. If you use an empty version of these hoods and place the "Rabbit Holes" as Neighborhood Deco that CuriousB created a couple months ago, it'd be easier to have your version of the Sims 3 hoods. I know there's a version of the Bachelor's house at MTS (but it requires a lot of CC), as well as the Main Square from Sunset Valley.

- However, if you want to play the Sims 1 version of Pleasantview, things will be much easier for you. Madame Mim at Genesims re-created the WHOLE Sims 1 hood, complete with terrain, characters and lots (which come empty or inhabited, and with several choices according to the Eps you have installed in your game).

- Finally, in case you want more Pre made character predecessors, Bog Sims has a lot of extracted characters, like Darleen Dreamer and all of Olive's dead husbands. Look for them in the Bodyshop/Genetics section. And a great source of extracted Premade characters is

maxis_taste (At LJ)

- Enjoy!

Build Mode Recolors w/Pooklet Naturals

Disclaimer: This is a present for the Secret Santa exchange at GOS that I made and sent three and a half months ago. This was a Super Secret Santa request, so it was done in a bit of a hurry, but I was pleased with the results.

Unfortunately, I never heard back from my Santee :( So, I've decided to share my files here now.

These are 18 recolors of the Holy Simoly Industrial Stairs using Pooklet's Natural Colors.
The set includes the recolors and the meshes (double, left and right).
The right and left meshes are edits by Untidyfan, who kindly edited them to make them repository.
This means that the right and left stairs now pull their colors from the double stairs.
If you have the original stairs by Holy Simoly, replace those meshes with the new ones!.

IMPORTANT: Untidyfan recently updated my request thread with a fix of the repositoried industrial stairs (right mesh). PLEASE REPLACE THE MESH IN MY ORIGINAL ZIP WITH THIS FIX!!!

Easter Goodies: Part 1

Since I can't send you chocolate -actually, it was nearly impossible to find chocolate eggs today in this city. We were all craving some and I volunteered to get some from the store... big mistake :P- I made a couple Easter presents for you :)

Unfortunately, my mouse has been acting out lately, double clicking at random and creating chaos on my PC (damn mouse made my computer open a billion SimPe windows when I was organizing a folder and the machine nearly died), so I haven't been able to make new re-textures. Thus, my presents will be a bit different than usual.

I still have to take some preview pics for the "bigger" present, but in the mean time, here's a very simple fix of a hair I made a long time ago, Rose 90. The original hair is just fine, mind you, it just came out much lighter than usual (back then I was still learning how to make color actions) so I wasn't 100% fond of it (the Maxis red in particular looked like carrot orange IMO). Therefore, I just darkened the colors a bit. I think the hair looks much better now.

You can have both these and the lighter recolors, BTW, so I am not planning on taking them down.

Premade Maxis Characters Part 1

Goodness, making the previews for this present took forever with my wonky mouse *shakes fists in anger*, but I'm finally done with them! :)

The second, and largest, part of the Easter present consists of the final versions of the Sims 1 and Sims 3 characters I've made for my portraits and flashback scenes. After a long, long time, I am pleased with my characters :).

All these sims come with default skins and eyes (so they will look different according to the defaults you have installed in your games), with the exception of two of them. I tried to use as many BG meshes as possible to ensure compatibility. These sims also include new clothing pieces I recolored just for them and my first attempt at making an eye color :)

Note: Michael Bachelor is not included in this entry. He was created by skellington7d (at LJ) and can be downloaded here (I only turned him into a teen for the family picture. His clothes are from TSS Stuff Pack).

Hmmm...

Something tells me that LJ is going down the drain.

It seems there's an attack going on right now, and if it's true it'd be the third time this week. And before that, there was the issue with most mail providers blacklisting LJ due to a spambot invasion. And before THAT I'd been reading several complaints from my f-list about receiving lots of spam comments in their journals.

I really like Livejournal. I've been there since early 2004 and I've had my Sims journal since 2007. I hope I won't have to move to another place, things just wouldn't be the same, specially finding my F-list again.

Three Unreleased Preview-less Hairs

Back in September, I made these three hair retextures. However, when I'd quit the game after supposedly taking some nice preview pictures, I realized that somehow Gadwin shut down on its own, so all my work was lost.

I was so pissed that I didn't want to take the preview pictures again that night, so I just dumped the files in my LJ and forgot about these hairs for months.

I'm trying to update my Dreamwidth account (I've been neglecting it lately), so I'm going to post these hairs (two from Nouk and one from Newsea) with the original pics from their meshers as placeholders while I take some preview pics of my own. Hopefully soon.

Anyway, same deal as always, meshes included, six colors, bla, bla, bla.
